Simple DIY Makeup Bag

By Rebekah 2 Comments

Thank you to Kiehls for providing samples for this post!

I have never been mistaken for an organized person. Both at work and at home, my things can often be found in chaotic looking piles. It’s okay though, I have a system. I know where everything is…usually.

For some reason, however, when traveling I like to pretend I am totally neat and orderly. I fold my clothing into neat little bundles and go crazy over cute bathroom bags with lots of little pockets to house all of my girly necessities.

Because I have such a fondness for makeup bags, I thought it would be fun to create one of my own. One of the main benefits of designing your own bag is you can customize the pockets to fit your favorite products perfectly. I have recently fallen in love with Kiehls (if you haven’t tried them yet, you absolutely must!), so I filled my pouch with my favorite goodies from their line. Check out the bottom of this post, to see my top five Kiehls must-haves for summer.

Make a Simple DIY Makeup Bag

What You Will Need:

  • Either a hand towel or washcloth
  • Thread that matches your cloth and a needle
  • Ribbon

Instructions:

1. Bring the bottom edge of the cloth 3/4 of the way to the top edge (as shown in the photo above).

2. Sew the outer edges of both sides closed.

3. Using your own overnight products as a guide, insert pins to mark where your pockets will be.

4. Sew straight lines up from the bottom of the cloth to form the pockets.

5. Fill our makeup bag, roll it up and tie with ribbon.

Top 5 Kiehls Must-Haves for Summer

Fill your new beauty pouch with these amazing products from Kiehls!

Kiehlsproducts

1. Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate

This wrinkle fighting cream creates a perfect canvas for makeup. This actually made my skin feel so silky, a co-worker caught me absent-mindedly stroking my face.

2. Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado

This is a thick cream that stays where you put it! It is a very rich, hydrating product. I’ve found that it’s best to let it absorb for a few minutes before applying makeup.

3. Midnight Recovery Concentrate

I love this night-time oil! It is made with distilled botanicals and  is 99.8% naturally derived. It is also paraben free. The Recovery Concentrate is a light oil that easily smooths into skin.

4. Lip Balm

As someone with constantly dry lips, I am a bit of a lip balm connoisseur. I really enjoy the richness of this product, and I appreciate how long it leaves my lips moisturized.

5. Creme de Corps

The Creme de Corps is a superior body lotion. It is incredibly moisturizing yet spreads easily and is quickly absorbed into skin. I love the long-lasting hydration it provides.

Kiehls knows skincare isn’t just for women. They carry a line specifically for men as well.

What a clever idea. I love Kiehls’ products. Now I really need to know the meaning of this word, “organized.”
