When I was a kid, my family used to take summer trips to the Oregon coast. On the way, I fondly remember stopping to pick berries at a small u-pick berry farm. We would always pick a ton of fruit and gobble it up quickly. The berries were just SO good.
My husband and I live in Arizona now. There aren’t many berries farms around, so we have to make do with what we have. This homemade raspberry frozen yogurt is a cool treat that brings back all of those fun summertime memories. This raspberry frozen yogurt recipe is full of flavorful and perfectly cold and creamy too, it really is the perfect summer treat.

Making frozen yogurt at home is actually very simple to do. You just combine yogurt, sugar, and fruit (or whatever other flavors you like) using a blender, and then you freeze the mixture. That’s it! In 4 – 6 hours, you will have perfectly delicious frozen yogurt!
When I talk about making frozen yogurt at home, I get the same question all the time…
Can I just freeze yogurt to make frozen yogurt?
The answer is not really. If you just put yogurt in the freezer, it turns into a block of ice that’s nearly impossible to eat. The trick is to add some sugar to prevent the ice crystals from forming. Generally, you want to have 1 cup of sugar for every 4 cups of yogurt.

For this frozen yogurt recipe, I used plain yogurt. I find that plain yogurt produces a better frozen yogurt than using Greek yogurt. You can, of course, use whatever you have on hand or prefer.
I also made my raspberry frozen yogurt with white sugar, but you could substitute honey if you wish.
And that’s all you need to know. Now on to the recipe!
