I have a toddler, and she is MESSY. Ella is my first baby, and her constant state of messiness used to bother me. That is until I remembered my own childhood. I remembered how my dad made a giant mud pit in the yard for my sister and I. I remembered flying down grassy hills in a cardboard box. I remembered long days at the beach burying myself in the sand. I realized my childhood was messy too, and I didn’t care one bit! I want my daughter to have those same fun memories, so I refuse to worry about her messiness. Messy is what makes childhood fun! Plus with the help of all® POWERCORE™ Pacs OXI (available at Walmart), tough kid stains are no problem.
Because of the long weekend, I wanted to plan a special project for Ella and I to try. Her two favorite things right now are clothes (this little girl changes her outfit at least 5 times a day) and crafts. Putting the two together, I came up with the idea to make our own stamps and use them to decorate T-shirts.
I got the supplies while she was at preschool. And when I picked her up, I told her the plan. She was pumped! So we went home and got started.
How to Make Handmade Stamps for Kids
Making the stamps is actually super easy. Kids can do this all by themselves.
You only need two things:
- Foam Stickers
- Bottle Caps
To make the stamps, remove the sticky baking from the foam stickers and stick to the bottle cap. That’s it! Your stamp is ready to use.
Decorating T-Shirts with Stamps
Now it’s time for the fun part, using the handmade stamps to decorate T-shirts.
You will need:
- T-Shirts
- Handmade Stamps
- Fabric Paint
- Foam roller, dabber or brush
Directions:
Step 1: Before painting, wash the T-shirts. I always like to use all® POWERCORE™ Pacs OXI because it leaves clothes bright and white (the perfect painting canvas). Plus, I love the little pacs!
Step 2: After everything is clean and dry, set up a T-shirt stamping station. Lay T-shirts on top of newspaper or cardboard to make clean up easy and squirt different colors of paint into small dishes. Finally set out the stamps.
Step 3: It’s time to decorate! Have kids use the foam brush to dab a small amount of paint onto their homemade stamps and then use them to stamp their shirts. Let them mix colors, use other paint brushes, whatever they want to decorate their shirts. It’s so much fun to watch kids create!
Step 4: When the shirts are done, let them dry for 24 hours before letting the kids wear them. When it’s time to wash, turn the shirts inside out to protect the design.
Especially during the summer, it’s important for kids to be kids. Don’t allow the fear of messiness to get in the way of special childhood memories. Let them have an awesome time playing and creating, and then scoop up their dirty clothes, pop them into the wash with all® POWERCORE™ Pacs OXI (follow directions on the package) and relax. Your kids’ clothes will be clean, bright and stain free.
Knowing that all® POWERCORE™ Pacs OXI takes care of tough stains, what messy activity do you want to try with your kids?
So much fun! I love this idea. My kiddo is probably a bit too old, but maybe we’ll give it a shot this weekend! #client
