Thank you to Vanity Planet for providing the Spin for Perfect Spin Brush used in this article.
For as long as I can remember, my skin has been problematic – always rough and dry no matter the season. None of the many lotions or serums I’ve tried over the years have given relief for more then a few hours. I recently started using the following skin care routine to help combat my consistently dry skin, and I have been incredibly happy with the results. There is no going back now!
Step 1: Exfoliate
To gently exfoliate from face to feet, I have been using the Spin for Perfect Skin brush. This battery powered brush deeply cleanses skin as well and feels like a mini massage.
It comes with attachments for your face, body, and even a pumice stone for your feet and other extra rough areas. The different heads are easy to snap on and off, which I really appreciate since I like to use all three regularly.
Exfoliate Like a Pro
To get your best skin ever, start with a mildly warm shower.
After a few minutes, use the Spin for Perfect Skin brush with the large body attachment to exfoliate legs and arms.
Next, switch to the pumice attachment and exfoliate your feet, elbows and knees.
Finally, use the facial attachment to cleanse and exfoliate your face.
Turn off shower and lightly pat skin dry.
Step 2: Moisturize
Now it’s time to hydrate your freshly buffed skin. Below is an easy recipe for homemade body butter. This stuff is amazing! It will leave your skin feeling and smelling phenomenal.
Pomegranate Body Butter
The basic formula for homemade body butter is…
Homemade Body Butter = equal parts butter (such as shea or cocoa) and natural oil of your choice.
To make Pomegranate Body Butter, combine equal parts shea butter with coconut oil and pomegranate oil.
In a microwave or double boiler, melt the butter and oils until they are completely translucent.
Place the butter/oil mixture in the refrigerator until it begins to firm.
Add your choice of essential oils for fragrance.
Using an electric mixer, beat until body butter has a light, whipped texture.
Transfer to an airtight container.
Apply a small amount of body butter to your entire body (face included). A little goes a long way.
*This body butter is different then store bought moisturizers. When applied to skin, it seems to “melt” on contact and may seem greasy for a minute or two. However, once it soaks in, I promise you will love the way your skin feels.
And there you have it! This has been my routine for the past 2 weeks, and my skin has never looked or felt better.
