Five Simple Ideas for Fast Workout Recovery

By Rebekah Leave a comment

The beginning of the school year is a stressful time for teachers. After spending days setting up the classroom, sitting in meetings and preparing lesson plans, it’s time to welcome the students! I love my kids but helping them transition from the freedom of summer to a structured school environment can be extremely challenging.

This week I was feeling pretty overwhelmed, so I turned to exercise to help work through some of the stress. Unfortunately, it had been awhile since my last workout, and I was left feeling pretty sore the next day! Because being crippled by soreness really isn’t ideal, I did some research and came up with five simple ideas for fast workout recovery.

Five Simple Ideas for Fast Workout Recovery

1. Stretch It

Gently stretching as you cool down is an important part of any exercise routine. Stretching has many benefits – it helps reduce muscle soreness and it’s a calming, relaxing way to end a workout.

2. Replace Lost Fluids

Especially during the summer months, you sweat a lot when you exercise. Make sure to replace those fluids post-workout by drinking plenty of water. Here in Phoenix, where it’s still 100 + degrees during day, I carry my water bottle everywhere. Sipping water consistently throughout the day makes it much easier to stay hydrated.

3. Take a Cold Shower

Cool off with a cold shower – I love this idea because it’s so refreshing after a difficult workout!  Not only does it feel amazing, it helps prevent sore muscles the next day. Win-Win!

4. Eat Right

Exercise and great nutrition are vitally important when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle, and they go hand in hand. After your workout, a protein shake is a great way to refuel your body. Pictured above is one of my all-time favorite protein shake recipes – Cherry Pineapple Protein Shake! Grab the recipe here.

5. Try an Epsom Salt Rub

PROcure epsom salt rub

Worried about soreness after an intense workout? Try the PROcure Epsom Salt Gel Rub! With Epsom Salt, a mineral well known to reduce aches and pain, and Aloe Vera to soothe skin, this convenient gel rub relieves aches and pains.

To use, simply apply gel to the sore area and massage until fully absorbed.

Whether you fall on your morning jog around the neighborhood or drop a dumbbell on your foot, accidents do happen when it comes to exercise. If bruises are a concern, fade them with PROcure Bruise Remedy. The Bruise Remedy relies on MSM, an organic sulfur widely known to detoxify and reduce inflammation as well as Arnica Montana, a bright yellow flower, to help relieve and soothe bruising.
